    Bovine Collagen Side Effects

    Injectables which contain bovine collagen such as Zyderm and Zyplast will require a test injection a month prior to treatment to determine if the prospective patient is allergic to the bovine collagen. If no allergies are present, treatment may procedure.

    However, if allergies to the bovine collagen are present, treatment with bovine collagen is not appropriate. The allergy may materialize right away or may take several weeks. There are a number of signs which will signal your allergy to bovine collagen. Allergy symptoms may include:

    • Chest pain and shortness of breath
    • Hives
    • Redness and Irritation of the skin
    • Lumps and Scarring

    Call your doctor right away if any of these symptoms result following a test injection.

    Injectable Alternatives

    If you are allergic to bovine collagen, there are a number of injectables in use today which are very popular and offer satisfactory results.
